Master Recycler Composter Volunteers

Welcome King County's MRC Volunteer Resource Site!

Volunteers at Event

For over 20 years, King County Master Recycler Composters have educated our community on how to meld simple resource conservation practices into their everyday lives.  MRCs receive comprehensive--and free--training on an array of interrelated resource conservation topics including recycling, waste reduction, composting, and household hazardous waste materials management.  In exchange, these volunteers make a 40-hour commitment to share their expanded knowledge and skills with others throughout their community.  These volunteers donate invaluable time working with people in schools, homes, workplaces and neighborhoods so that residents can make informed decisions about preventing waste and using resources wisely.

Examples of MRC activities include:

  • Demonstrating composting techniques at local nurseries
  • Building worm composting bins with kids in schools
  • Staffing informational booths at special events and fairs
  • Showing people how to reduce waste and identify recyclable materials

If you are currently a King County MRC Volunteer, you may login here to access the MRC Volunteer Resource pages. If you have not yet received your username and password, are interested in becoming an MRC, would like to schedule an MRC for your event, or would like more information about the program, please email the volunteer coordinator, or call 206-449-1108.
